Failures of Reform
Jacques Necker
Try as the kings may have to fix things, they were greatly unsuccessful. As a means of trying to correct things, our King Louis XVI hired a financial consultant by the name of Jacques Necker. Jacques rightly advised that the king instruct his court to cease the spending of money on themselves, reduce taxes on the poor Third Estate, and reform the government. However, King Louis the XVI ignored Necker and later fired him after taking none of his wise advice.
