Religious Reforms
Last, but not least, we have our new religious reforms! This topic is just as important as any, especially because it is a topic that is held so dearly to our hearts. Reforms have now declared freedom of religion, which means anyone from anywhere that is a French citizen can practice and believe in any religion, not just Catholic. Though many of us still do remain and believe in Catholicism, those who not are free to do what they please. It is a refreshing change of pace since Catholicism used to be demanded from the people to a fault. Secondly, the government has taken over and sold church lands, which gives the Church less influence on us and gives us more land to harvest and prosper from. Lastly, the Assembly has placed the French Catholic Church under control of the state and provided that bishops and priests be elected and receive government salaries. In other words, the Church alone has no power; all power must come from the people and the representatives that the People elect.
