Burden of Debt
Because of King Louis XVI's decision to help the Americans and their revolution, the government spent a whopping amount of money of the treasury on the Seven Year's War. In addition to that, the First and Second Estates, as well as the royal court, spent lavishly and generously on themselves, causing our government to have to borrow money. In turn, we, the poor Third Estate, were forced to pay off this debt on our own with no help from the people who had spent much of the money in the first place with only their own personal interests in mind!
